This event is presented by the Pump Jack Capital Association

Join us as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the
discovery of oil in Electra,Texas. April 1,1911 the
Clayco #1 oil well blew in and changed the farming
and ranching community into a boomtown overnight,
the population grew from around 500 to 2000 almost
overnight. As news of the gusher spread through town,
people thought it was an April Fools joke and didn't
take it seriously until they saw for themselves the
plume of black oil spewing high into the sky. That day
secured Electra's place in the history books as being
one of the most significant oil discoveries in the nation.
